Ok, so the water can be a tad nippy, but once you’re in it’s go, go, go! Whether this is your first time or not, the river is fun, exhilarating and always a learning experience. Our guides are a bundle of laughs with stacks of experience, so the rapids and rocks that may at first seem a little daunting, become a game, under their careful guidance and direction. You will learn to read the river and use her power, whether in or on the water. Trying different sorts of craft and also the hydro speed, you will progress everything from gentle to quite challenging rivers as the week goes on. The experience of a lifetime awaits you!

Typical programme

Your experience will start with rafting.
From the gentler waters to the livelier section of the River Isere, with our expert guides you will begin by learning how to paddle, react to commands and work as a team to harness the power of the river. From there to the Doron where it is essential to read the correct line of the river through the grade iv rapids which follow a fast and steep descent at the base of the Three Valleys.
To appreciate the power and flow of the water you need to get into the current. Hydrospeed is a form of white water swimming with specialised equipment to stay above and ride the rapids and an essential step in understanding river sports.
Whether you prefer to paddle your own canoe or share the work, next its time for light, manoeuvrable craft, two-man and solo inflatable kayaks that require you to navigate for yourself.
To recharge the batteries either a full day off or half day off with kayaking.
Finally, with all your new found skills the week will culminate with the Italian excursion to ride the grade iv/v Dora Balte in Italy, which is regarded as one of the most beautiful (as well as most challenging rivers in Europe), will you be ready for the 2km of grade v rapids in the gorges known by the Italians as the “Canyon d’Inferno”?
In readiness for the action, each day will start with the classic Fish&Pips breakfast and will include a buffet style lunch, picnic or BBQ, and close with a hearty but tasty meal at or around the chalet.

Includes all craft and protective clothing hire and 4 (short break) or 7 (week) nights accommodation, 6 days full at Fish&Pips chalets in meribel village, based on two people sharing a twin room, transport between accommodation and various site, services of a qualified guides/instructors and resort reps.
